Kaylyn Shearer is an oboist and educator based in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her M.M. in Oboe Performance from Duquesne University, where she studied with former Pittsburgh Symphony Second Oboist, Scott Bell. She currently holds the position of Second Oboe/English Horn for The Symphony of The Mountains in Kingsport, TN, and performs regularly with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. Kaylyn is also one of the founding members of Kamratōn, a new chamber music collective that offers dynamic contemporary programming. As one of the most eclectic performers on her instrument, Kaylyn strives to push the boundaries of conventional oboe technique by creating new and exciting opportunities for the oboe in modern music, while also loving & maintaining a classical career.
